Inle Lake- Situated on the Shan Plateau at an altitude of 900 m above the sea level and accessible only by road. One would be astonished to see such a big lake situated at such an altitude and surrounded by mountains. The inhabitants (Intha) cultivate on the artificial floating islands. Their unique way of fishing is one of the curiosities for visitors. The way they row their boats with one leg is also unique. The silkware woven on this lake is ranked to be the best quality in Myanmar.It is also interesting to see Buddha statues which have lost their original forms because of the thick coverings of gold in the most revered Phaung Daw Oo pagoda on the lake.
